These taco cups are the perfect mixture of soft and crunchy, filled with seasoned ground beef, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes and finished with a fresh cilantro lime sour cream.
I am a huge fan of tacos in any form, but these taco cups are a cute version that makes for a deliciously easy weeknight dinner. They can even be a great appetizer for parties or get-togethers.
Taco cups are filled with all your usual favorite toppings. So if you are making these ahead for your family or group they’re easy to customize.
Have some picky eaters that don’t like lettuce or tomato? Take off what they don’t like.
Prefer your tacos with a spicy kick? Add some salsa with heat to yours. You can quickly make these your own.
Okay, let’s get started because these cute little taco cups are easier to make than you think.
How To Make Taco Cups
First, preheat your oven to 400 degrees and grab two muffin tins.
We are using corn tortillas here, the street size version. This size will fit over the muffin without any problems. You won’t have to cut these either!
Warm your tortillas in the microwave for about 15 seconds, wrapped inside a warm paper towel.
Turn the first muffin tin upside down, spray with cooking spray and lay one corn tortilla over each section. Once all sections are covered, place the 2nd muffin tin on top.
Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove and set aside, see how simple that was! Okay, now lets get ready to prepare what will go inside these taco cups.
Crunchy Taco Cups With Cilantro Lime Sour Cream
We will be filling these with ground beef so go ahead and prepare that while your taco cups are baking. Season your ground beef with taco seasoning.
For the cilantro lime sour cream you’ll need:
1 cup of sour cream
1 cup of cilantro, chopped finely
1 lime, cut into wedges
In a small bowl, mix the cilantro into the sour cream. Squeeze the juice of one lime into your sour cream. Mix again and set aside.
To prepare the taco cups, you will layer the ingredients:
Put the ground beef on the bottom of the taco cup. Then add lettuce, tomato, cilantro lime sour cream, and top with cheese.
Make Ahead Taco Cups
If you want to make these ahead of an event or party, you can prepare the taco cups and store in them in an airtight container or ziploc bag for up to 3 days.
If you want to store them in the freezer, layer the tortilla cups between a paper towel and store them in a freezer safe container. Taco bowls can be frozen for up to 3 months.
When you’re ready to serve them from the freezer, be sure to let them thaw out in the fridge the day before.
If you are preparing the meat ahead as well, store the meat and the taco cups separately.
Meat Alternatives For Taco Cups
I prepared these with ground beef, but you can use your preferred choice of meat for tacos. These can easily turn into:
Chicken Taco Cups
Turkey Taco Cups

Steak Taco Cups
I hope you enjoy these as much as I do! This easy taco cups recipe can make any day Taco Tuesday.
